Baby's first...trip to the hospital

Last week, we made the inevitable first trip to the hospital with Ethan. Our little guy had a bit of a runny nose all day Tuesday, so we figured he just had a simple cold. But by the time we put him to bed that night, he was wheezing and had rattling in his chest. We were a little concerned at first, but it didn't seem serious. But after an hour or two of listening to him wheeze in his sleep, he woke up choking and tried to cry, but not much came out. He was obviously scared and in pain. His breathing became so laboured that he heaved with his whole body and struggled for each breath. We got really scared, so we took him to the hospital at 3:00am on Wednesday. Thankfully, there wasn't much of a line that early in the morning, so we got in right away. The doctor said he had croup, and gave him a few different medications via steam mask to help his breathing. The nurse said that he would probably cry when we put the mask on his face, and he did. But after a minute or so, he realized it was okay and started smiling and laughing! Eventually he feel asleep with the mask on - it was so cute! After the various treatments, his breathing improved a bit, so the doctor sent us home. We tried to get some sleep, but within a few hours, his breathing got worse. We went back to the hospital at about 10:00am for another dose of medication, and his breathing finally got better. Thankfully, that did the trick, and he was okay after that. He still had an awful cough and a runny nose for about a week, but at least he was able to breathe normally. What a trooper our little guy is!

Obviously, we didn't bring our camera to the hospital, so we don't have any pictures of the ordeal. So here are some fun pictures from the last few weeks.

I thought this was pretty cute - this is Ethan eating his toes:)
I put Ethan down for a nap, and when I tried to take off his bib, he grabbed on and wouldn't let go. Finally I went and got the camera because I thought it was really cute! Here's my little guy after his nap. It's always fun to go into his room to see what new position he's in!

I always put Ethan to bed on his back, but in the morning, he often wakes up, rolls over and goes back to sleepSince I haven't posted any bath pictures yet, here's a cute one!

Ethan doing what he does best...sucking on toys!Dan was having fun with the different camera functions, and this one turned out really well!

OK I feel like a twit, I didn't know you had a blog till now. I checked it out a few months back but it might have been the one you guys were setting up for wellspring or something I don't even remember. But for whatever reason I decided to click on your name from the last comment you left on Teagan's Birthday and Yeah here you are!!! I'm so glad to catch up with you and watch your son grow. What a handsome prince!
